Training and experience: Owner of Glance for 6 years. RD Hairstyling College; eight years professional experience with Spa D’Athena

Best thing about working at Glance: I am truly blessed to work with such amazing people.

What I love about my profession: I am attending hair, business, or leadership education and seminars as much as I can.  I love to learn and continuously grow and better our team!

What is your favorite decade of fashion? The 1950s; I have always been a fan of older fashion.  I love the clothing from the fifties: the collared shirts, dresses and buttons and of course, all the hats, I love hats! Hair was gorgeous in the fifties and full of soft curls.  I love that in older fashion women always looked “dressed” for the day: beautiful and neat.  Sloppy sweats and messy ponytails were not popular.

If you could do a make-over on anyone, who would it be? I gave this a great deal of thought and I decided that I think I would love to treat all of my staff to a makeover.  Not because I feel they look bad or need a change by any means, but because (like in any profession) we are always the last customers to get attention.  A makeover is a nice pampering treat and they are all awesome and deserve a lot of pampering because of their hard work and dedication they give to their customers every day!

What is your favorite decade of fashion? 1980’s because the bigger the hair the closer to God!

Secret to being a great stylist: Your appearance is a part of who you are. Open communication is important to finding a style that suits you, your personality and your lifestyle.

What is your favorite decade of fashion? I loved the pin curls and sets from the 1940s and the smoother on top and curls on the bottom from the 1950s so women could wear hats or berets.  Make-up became more important because movies were in color so bright red lipstick and nail polish became popular.  I also like the simpler hair styles from the 1960s.  I like the makeup from the 1980s  because of the wide range of color.

If you could do a make-over on anyone, who would it be? Hillary Clinton because she needs a change since she has looked the same for a long time.  I also have a client who is a mom of four children and her husband travels a lot, I would love to give her some ‘me’ time.

Best thing about working at Glance: The atmosphere! The guests are fun and upbeat, and my coworkers are professional and social.

What I love about my profession: Being a stylist is the whole package for me. I love getting to know my guests on a personal level and having great conversations with them. I love transforming someone’s look with a fresh new color, trendy new cut, or showing them the proper wat to apply and wear makeup. I’m all about making people feel good about themselves!

What is your favorite decade of fashion? The Roaring 20s had the best fashion.  It was all about women expressing themselves and taking risks.  They were rebelling against social norms and venturing into new styles of clothing and hair.  I think that is what fashion is still about….going away from the expected and expressing yourself!

If you could do a make-over on anyone, who would it be? A hard working mom! Moms never take enough time for themselves so I love to pamper them and have them feeling their best. It’s also easy to let your hair color and style go when you’re busy chasing kids so I love giving moms makeovers to help freshen up their look and get them into an everyday wearable style.

What is your favorite decade of fashion? I love the 1970s!  Everything was so bright and fun.  I loved the extreme bell bottoms and all of the sparkly, short dresses.  It is fun to see some of that translated into our styles today.  Makeup was starting to push the boundaries and hair was left longer with many layers to give it the messy wind-blown look.  It was great!
