Heavens Helpers Soup Cafe Takeover days 2023!

Glance has been a regular presence at Heavens Helpers Soup Cafe since the very beginning. Over the years we have volunteered there on a regular basis, and it is something that our team enjoys and looks forward to. This year Glance decided to pay our team members to step away from the salon for the day and do a full Soup Cafe takeover day, one time per quarter, and invite our guests to volunteer with us!

As a business owner, Andrea feels it is vitally important to encourage community involvement in her company. She is so thankful to be able to give her team paid opportunities to make an impact in other ways besides with their hands working behind the chair.
Getting out and supporting area non-profits creates a ripple effect of kindness and gratefulness and being able to include our guests in that experience is something extra special.

Andrea and Mark, founder of the soup cafe.
If you are unfamiliar with the mission of the kitchen, check out what they say on their website: “By the grace of God, like minded Christians are coming together to do the works of Jesus at the Soup Cafe. We are a soup kitchen that is set up as a restaurant where people come in, seat themselves in one of our booths and one of our volunteers will take their order and bring them their food. Each day we offer two homemade soups, two sandwiches, salad bar, desert and beverage free of charge. Patrons can eat as much as they want as long as they don't waste food, we will make sure no one goes away hungry. We are a ministry of serving the poor and needy with dignity and respect.”

“I love volunteering at the soup cafe - it sure puts life in perspective! We have so much to be grateful for and spreading love and kindness is what it is all about!” -Heather

“It feels good to give back to the community and know that I was able to help someone get a nice warm and hearty meal.” - Brittany

Our guests LOVED having the opportunity to serve with us. It was such a great time to connect with them on a different level and get them engaged with our mission at Glance.

It was a lot of our guests first time in the Soup Cafe and it was so rewarding to be able to see them have this experience. A lot of them have volunteered again at the cafe since they were with us there that day!

We had two sets of mothers and daughters show up to volunteer together!

It is such a great activity to do together as a family!

“This was my favorite time volunteering because we invited our guests to come with us. It was fun to be able to do this with them and show them what we are all about!” - Chloe

“Working for a company that values giving back to the community on such a grand scale is not something that I take lightly. Having the ability to get my hands dirty and do work that really matters just fills my cup up.” -Jess

We love when our family members are able to join us for some volunteer time together, too!

A lot of us have had our kids come with us to volunteer as well. Jess says that her kids beg to go volunteer at the soup cafe. It is humbling for them to see people from all walks of life eating there and they walk away with a sense of appreciation for the home they get to go home to everynight. Heavens Helpers is GREAT with having kids/teens volunteer there. There are a ton of age-appropriate jobs that they can do to contribute.

If you or your company is looking for ways to get more involved in the community and make a positive change in the lives of people right in your own backyard; check out the volunteer section on the website for more information!
