Share the LOVE: Part Three of our Four Part “ We LOVE Our Community” Series!

$100.jpg

At Glance, Community is one of our value words. We love being a part of the Bismarck/Mandan Community and showing up for our neighbors whenever possible. We believe in being part of the solution and helping those around us however we can. Along with all of our regular volunteering that we do; this year, we decided to do something a little different to show our LOVE to the community.

We have SENT THE LOVE, we have SPREAD THE LOVE, and now we are SHARING THE LOVE with our community.

SHARE THE LOVE

For the third part of our “We love our Community” series, we decided to SHARE THE LOVE with our community.

The Challenge:

Glance gave every member of our team $100 in cash and the only requirement was to use that money to positively impact the community and the lives of those around you. As long as you use the money to make someone smile or to help out someone in need - you have completed the challenge!

With all 14 team members recieving $100 we had a whopping $1400 to share with our community!

Here are the ways that we
SHARED THE LOVE:

“I chose to use my $100 to give back to a local school. I purchased four books off of their Amazon education wish list, and then picked a day to bring everyone their favorite coffee and donuts. Its been a crazy year and a half and I wanted to show them how much they are appreciated for helping our children through this time”
-Robyn

“We all know that Teachers don’t work for the big bucks! After hearing that insurance was going up for a teacher an additional $400 a month the last thing that I wanted her to worry about was other unexpected costs and household things. I chose to use my $100 to put towards a new dryer that she told me that she needed!”

“I had my daughter when I was in high school and with this challenged I felt called to help out another teen mom that is trying to go to school and raise a baby. I was put in contact with a wonderful young lady who is working hard to get her degree to provide the best life possible for her and her daughter. I donated diapers and wipes and other needed baby items to help her out! I hope she felt encouraged and loved and knows she can succeed!”
-Jess

I donated to a little boy named Grady. He has down syndrome so I decided to donate my money to the down syndrome walk happening on September 25th!”

“I put together a tub of warm winter clothes to have at the school for kids that needed them this winter!”
-Carole

“I bought $100 off of chewy.com to send directly to Furry Friends Rockin Rescue!”

“I used the $100 two different ways. First, I had my first grader donate a variety of snacks to the local food pantry every day before school. I thought it would be a great way for him to start the day coming from a place of humility and generosity. Second, I chose to have my youngest son donate a bunch of snacks to the daycare staff’s break room!”

“I decided to help out a family that was has been struggling after a tragedy happened a few months back. Their dad/husband was in a horrible motorcycle accident and was doing therapy down in Colorado for about six weeks. I decided to cover the cost of the services that they received at Glance to let them know that I care about them!”

“I went through the Starbucks line early on a Saturday morning and paid for every person in line. To me there is nothing better than starting your day off with free coffee!”
-Jenna

“A couple girlfriends and I put together a self care package with a fuzzy robe, slippers, polish, perfume, Epsom salt, bath bombs and the $100 cash from Glance and an additional $100 matched by my friends. We gifted it to a good friend who is the most fun, caring, talented woman. Her personality shines bright even through the hard times. She was flown to Minneapolis for an unexpected emergency heart surgery. We hope she found some comfort and it warmed her heart as much as it did ours!”

I turned to my kids and asked them how they would want to spend the $100 and they had fabulous ideas! We decided to purchase 10 - $10 gift cards from McDonalds! Then my boys and I kept our eyes open for someone that we thought looked like they could benefit from a free lunch. We asked random strangers if we could give them lunch on us- we explained that it wasn’t much but we hoped that it would brighten their day! We met lots of cool people and I think it brightened our day more than theirs!” -Heather

I felt like there could have been 100 ways to use the $100 but it isn’t all the time that I have a close friend going through a hard time. My friend and her fiance had just bought their first home and days after went through the tragic and unexpected loss of their mom/mother in law. They had just started painting their new home when they then had to start planning a funeral. I knew the pain and overwhelming stress that they were overcome with so I chose to put my $100 toward having their house painted so they wouldn’t have to deal with that on top of everything else. They were so grateful to have it done and I was so happy that I could use my $100 to help them in a small way through such a hard time in their lives.”
-Andrea

“St. Anthony public school which is nestled in the hills off HWY 6 was Built in 1909. Started as a Catholic boarding school, run by the nuns. Later was turned into a Morton county public school. That 27 kids attend K-8.
I saw that this iconic legend needed a little TLC before the 2021- 2022 school year kick off. 3 teachers get to call this their second home and work their tails off teaching 3 grades a piece. Everyday and split, computer, music and physical education among the 3 of them.
It was my honor to be able to paint some of the equipment and spruce up the playground and donate some chalk to the school! It was much deserved!”

I love our company culture that we have created and I am beyond proud of our team and love the giving hearts that they have!”
