Spring Be-YOU-tiful event

Being involved in our community and reaching out to give people a hand up in life has always been very important to us here at Glance.

Over the last few years we have developed a love campaign program where we come together as a team and decide on what community outreach projects we want to participate in and what population of people are going to be our focus to pour love into.

This year we decided we wanted to focus on and bring light into the lives of pre-teen girls in our area. We all remembered going through that phase of life and felt passionate about giving back and making them feel special and heard.

We welcomed TWENTY local 6th and 7th grade students into our salon and created a fun and upbeat atmosphere where they felt welcomed and encouraged to ask questions and learn all about skincare, makeup, and hair. We wanted to be able to truly listen to them, offer advice, show them some beauty tips and tricks along the way, and have them leave feeling uplifted!

We provided pizza, drinks, and cookies from the Craftcade for a fun dinner treat!

We made sure the room was bright and cheery for the girls and our entire team was there to pour love into them! We were all so excited to be a part of this event and thankful that we work for a company that makes community projects like this one a priority.

Amanda taught them all about taking care of their skin by removing makeup every night, how to cleanse, and the importance of using SPF. She also shared some simple makeup knowledge as well such as how to apply a tinted moisturizer, how to use brow gel, and how to apply mascara.

Jess and Jenna did a lesson on scalp health and how to properly shampoo and take care of your hair. They also shared some easy and fun styling tips and tricks to create the looks they want with a curling iron, flat iron, and diffuser!

Laura hosted a styling station where she showed the attendees how to do different braids, ponytails, and other easy styles that they were seeing on social media but having a hard time recreating.

We also had some curly friends in the room and it was really rewarding to be able to show them how to style and work with their natural texture!

We had an amazing guest speaker come and share a positive message about taking care of yourself and being a good friend to others. We had a chance to all sit down as a group and talk about some of the issues that we face and share some words of love and encouragement with each other.

Each girl got to take home an awesome swag bag! It was filled with shampoo and conditioner, some essential styling products, a makeup removing mit from Jane Iredale, a ticket to come back and treat themselves to a service at the salon, and some other fun beauty items!
We did a door prize drawing as well and sent 3 girls home with a new blow dryers! They were so excited!

We feel so blessed to have been able to spend this night with these smart, driven, and beautiful students in our community. We were inspired by their openness about life’s challenges, willingness to ask questions and receive help, and their ability to have a fun night just relaxing and hanging out and meeting new friends! It was such a win for everyone!

We will be having another Be-YOU-tiful event in the fall and we look forward to creating more positive impact with another group of middle schoolers!
