Get to know: Robyn Thompson
Robyn is celebrating ELEVEN years at Glance this year. We love having this empathetic, quirky, and talented artist be a part of our team! Today we celebrate Robyn and her journey in the beauty industry to get her to where she is today; and maybe we will just learn a new thing or two about this extroverted and creative Glance Team member!
Robyn grew up in Mandan ND and her dad still lives on their family farm. Robyn and her husband have one son who is smart, friendly and kind and lights up their life! They also have two Golden Retrievers and love all things hunting, fishing, and adventuring outdoors together!
Robyn loves to paint and if you have been into the salon lately you may have seen her art displayed around the salon. It is so beautiful and you can tell she puts her heart into every piece she creates. She loves her Starbucks Machiattos with extra esspresso and you will see her warming her coffee up thru out the day - everyday! Its a rare day to see Robyn with out a coffee in her hand… in fact, have we ever even witnessed that?!

Robyn, who do you look up to most in life?
My Dad. Life has been hard for him and there has been some very devastating loss, but he remains the kindest, gentlest, and most loving person I know. He can make friends with anyone that he meets, always wanting to help others, and probably his favorite thing on this planet is his only grand kid, our son. I think his life became infinitely better when he became Papa.
Robyn, when you were younger you wanted to be a Marine Biologist and study sharks, so how did you get started in the beauty industry?!
“Through high school I was always doing friends hair, or my family's hair. Styling hair for dances or weddings. I felt like it was another way to do art and be creative. I loved working with people and making them feel good about themselves. After college I just decided that I wanted this to be my career. I wanted to have that creative outlet and have an impact on others lives at the same time. I now provide, haircutting, updos, color, nail services, and tape in or hand tied extensions. I love the instant transformation with extensions!

Robyn, what is your favorite part of working at Glance?
"The Team"! We are each other's biggest cheerleaders, we work together, and play together. It becomes hard to be away from all these girls for a long period of time. We are family.

After working at Glance for eleven years, Robyn has formed some strong relationships with our guests. Here’s is what she has to say about the bonds that have been formed over the years:
I have so many clients that are amazing and have been with me for so long. Being an empathetic person, I get very attached and form a strong bond. Being in this profession, you meet and get to take care of so many people. You are with them through great times, through bad times, through loss, and through mountain top highs of happiness. I feel blessed every day that these people trust me with something so precious and are comfortable enough to share their lives with me. It's absolutely a bonus if I can make them feel beautiful.

Words of wisdom!
1) Her greatest adventure was traveling for several weeks through Europe for her art history major for College.
2) Punk Rock or 80s are her jam. She’s slightly obsessed with Queen and her favorite song is "I want to break free".
3) Her must have beauty item is grande lash and a great moisturizer.
4) The number one thing on her bucket list is to see as much of the world as possible!
5) Glance is known for having EPIC Christmas parties - and do you know who is the brains behind them? YUP! THIS WOMAN RIGHT HERE! Robyn is a great party planner with her attention to detail and her desire to make sure everyone has the best time possible!
